Canon Photomarathon 2018
The Canon Photomarathon Kuala Lumpur 2018 took place at Sunway Pyramid, attracting a diverse range of talented photographers, both young and adult, equipped with their point-and-shoot cameras, DSLRs, and mirrorless cameras. Many participants brought along additional lenses, tripods, and flashes to enhance their photographic capabilities. It was truly inspiring to witness everyone's dedication in capturing images aligned with the given themes and within the specified time limit.
For me, it was an exciting opportunity to participate in such an event for the first time. Fortunately, I had a friend accompanying me, which made the experience more enjoyable. Upon arriving and registering, I couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by the presence of other photographers with their expensive equipment. However, my friend and I approached the event with a mindset of joining, gaining experience, and having fun. The themes for the competition were revealed throughout the day, and we did our best to capture photographs that resonated with each theme.
The three themes provided were "Hidden," "Beauty of Earth," and "Fragile." While I cannot recall the specific reasons behind all the photos taken, it seemed that nature-related subjects were a common choice. As we observed other photographers showcasing their work, it became evident that the images selected by the judges tended to be simple and directly conveyed the essence of the theme. This experience taught me that sometimes, simplicity is indeed better when it comes to photography.
